'Jesus through Asian eyes' booklet
15 frequently asked questions
Jesus through Asian eyes is a new booklet produced by South Asian Forum (SAF) of the Evangelical Alliance.
The aim of the booklet is to dispel common misconceptions that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Buddhists have about the Christian faith. The A5 booklet is intended to be informative, engaging and enlightening and to pay equal respect to people of other beliefs.
The booklet costs just £1+P&P per copy and is available from m.raithatha@eauk.org. It comes with guidelines on how it can be used for group discussions.
A successful coalition!
A flourishing and exciting partnership has sprung up just recently, through a strong mutual desire to bring South Asians in the UK to the Lord Jesus. Two organisations are working together, aiming to galvanise churches into mission among South Asians by encouraging, equipping and instilling confidence to Church leaders and individual Christians.
The Jewels in His Crown movement has been around for some 12 years now, running a weekend conference every two years, with this same aim in mind, with speakers chosen because of their expertise in drawing others to Christ and with knowledge of what it is like to be South Asian in Britain today. It has run workshops and discussions on relevant issues and generally endeavoured to bring a fresh challenge and teaching to encourage mission among South Asians, as well as give a forum for networking and learning from each other...
The UK Asian Ministries Directory 2011
The UK Asian Ministries Directory was first published in 1999, with a completely revised edition in 2008. It lists individuals, churches and organisations that are involved in ministry with Asians. Some of them are Asian Fellowships, predominantly Asian, meeting regularly, some as churches, some as supplementary fellowship groups. The directory gives population statistics for each county, urban area or unitary authority. You can see at a glance how many Asians there are and roughly who is working among them (though the information is incomplete). The latest edition was published in July 2011 by South Asian Concern and SAF. It's an important resource, especially for those who want to start - or continue - reaching out to Asians.
